My Mission

About Me

I recently moved to New York City to pursue my Masters and PhD in Education. I am a perfect example of how teachers can change the lives of students. Being gifted with an array of encouraging and thoughtful educators has further deepened my hunger to change the lives of children I am blessed to teach. My niche has been found in a classroom of crazy, diverse learners and I couldn't be happier!

What I Believe

"The future of the world is in my classroom today, a future with the potential for good or bad... Several future presidents are learning from me today; so are the great writers of the next decades, and so are all the so-called ordinary people who will make the decisions in a democracy. I must never forget these same young people could be the thieves and murderers of the future. Only a teacher? Thank God I have a calling to the greatest profession of all! I must be vigilant every day, lest I lose one fragile opportunity to improve tomorrow." --Ivan Welton Fitzwater

I truly believe that one of the biggest indicators of whether or not a child will be successful in school is the attitude of their teachers. We need teachers who love kids and who are prepared to do whatever is necessary to ensure that each child that comes through their door is loved, valued, appreciated and given every opportunity to become the best person they can be.  We should always teach with the bigger picture in mind: guiding children to become loving, compassionate people who desire to inspire others as their teachers have inspired them.

My Mission

"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires." ~William Arthur Ward

In my few years of teaching, I have learned the importance of being a reflective practitioner who puts the needs of students above all else. As teachers prepare daily lessons, we should ask ourselves, does this engage and inspire? Will my students see a bigger picture that goes beyond the normal realm of each subject? Do they understand that their writing can inspire love and compassion in their readers? These are the thoughts that change lives and help put an end to the "school-to-prison pipeline." It is my mission to change the world one teacher at a time. I want to inspire future teachers who, in turn, inspire their students.

The goal of my future research is to examine the benefits of full-inclusive, co-teaching classroom environments. I also hope to deepen not only my own knowledge of this particular framework but also to work with other teachers within the classroom to maximize the learning of all students. One day I plan to share my knowledge and experiences on the collegiate level and be a part of cultivating and training generations of teachers who truly believe that ALL children can learn and grow.

About This Site

This site will enlighten you about my work and also my every day life in a completely new environment. I will reflect on things that I learn about life and my profession and hopefully provide a little comedic relief with the random, foolish things that tend to happen to me. Also, if you believe in my mission and would like to support me in my goals, feel free to send me encouraging words, wisdom you have obtained over the years and prayer. Although the lessons I learn through my journey are priceless, the classes to learn these lessons cost a pretty penny. I would greatly appreciate it if you would also consider supporting my mission by investing in me financially. Over the next 5-6 years, my investment in my education and knowledge of how to teach children more effectively will accumulate to approximately $50,000. While full-time work can help tremendously, with the amount of outside research and study required for my coursework, my availability for work is limited. If you believe in my mission, please consider investing in me in any way possible.
